Relution Server 26.4

Relution 26.4 enhances the platform with numerous features for improved security, more efficient administrative processes and even more flexible device management. In addition to new features, technical optimisations have also been implemented in the background. These include, amongst other things, the update of Spring Boot to version 4 and its dependencies, as well as optimised resource management for S3 object storage, which contribute to an even more stable and high-performing platform.
Locating devices yourself via the self-service portal
Users with the appropriate self-service authorisation can now view the location of their managed devices directly via the self-service portal. Under ‘Locate device’, authorised users can initiate the tracking of a missing device themselves. As well as initiating the tracking process, the last known location is displayed on a map, enabling lost or misplaced devices to be found more quickly. This means users are less reliant on an administrator’s assistance when checking the location of a device.

A clearer overview in the organisation list
In the new version of Relution, administrators with access to multiple organisations benefit from an improved overview in the organisation selection. With the new option to pin frequently used organisations as favourites, these can be accessed more quickly.
In addition, meta-organisations and sub-organisations are displayed more clearly, so that the hierarchy of the organisational structure is immediately apparent. The unique organisation name is now displayed directly beneath the organisation name, making it easier to distinguish between them – particularly in the case of complex organisational structures or previous duplicates.
The Global organisation is always displayed as the first entry.
Automatic change of device user upon Windows login
Relution now supports the automatic change of the assigned device user when logging in to managed Windows devices. Windows Companion recognises the logged-in user and transmits this information to Relution, so that the stored device user can be updated automatically.
As a security measure, this feature is disabled by default and must first be enabled at organisation level by an administrator. Additionally, the Windows Companion configuration can be used to define the conditions under which a user switch is permitted. Administrators can choose between disabling the feature, restricting changes to users of a specific domain, or allowing changes for all authorised Relution users. Furthermore, domains, identity providers and user or group permissions can be configured to impose further restrictions.
The new feature is particularly useful for shared-PC scenarios, such as computer workstations in schools, training rooms or public institutions. For example, if another pupil, teacher or member of staff logs on to a shared Windows device, the device user can be changed directly in Relution without having to reset the device or alter any existing local data.
Relution thus enables flexible management of shared Windows devices and provides a better foundation for dynamic usage scenarios with changing users.
Modified DEP process thanks to registration code
To make the automated device provisioning process even more secure, from version 26.4 onwards, Relution supports authentication during DEP enrolment via a system-generated registration code.
Administrators can enable the new authentication method in the “User Authentication” section. During enrolment, the user enters their Relution username along with a one-off registration code, which is automatically sent by email. This means that login is carried out via an additional means of identification, without the need to enter the user’s password.
The eight-digit registration code is valid only for the specific user assigned to the device for automatic enrolment. This adds an extra layer of security to the DEP process and reduces the risk of unauthorised registrations.
The new option complements the existing authentication methods and allows users to choose flexibly between no authentication, username and password, or username and registration code.
Time zone visible in the device details
The time zone of a managed device is now displayed directly in the device details. This makes it possible to see at any time which time zone is currently configured on which device – a helpful feature for device management, fault analysis and cross-site administration.
Recovery Lock for macOS
It is now possible to set and manage a Recovery Lock for managed Mac devices in Relution. This protects access to recovery mode with a password and prevents unauthorised resets or reinstalls of the device. In addition, the status of the Recovery Lock can be checked centrally to verify whether the protection is enabled on a device.
Newline
Relution now supports Newline interactive whiteboards running on Android Classic. The devices can be managed centrally via Relution and integrated into existing UEM processes.
Newline whiteboards running Android Enterprise (EDLA) can already be enrolled as fully managed devices. In combination with the Relution Newline OEMConfig app, manufacturer-specific configuration options are available.
With the additional support for Android Classic, device coverage is expanded and consistent, cross-manufacturer management is enabled.
