A step-by-step guide for your MDM switch to Relution

Six steps to Relution - simple and efficient

Switching to Relution is straightforward; however, to ensure a smooth transition, it is advisable to allow sufficient time for preparation. With a well-structured guide that takes you through the process step by step, you will be well prepared for the switch and can seamlessly integrate your devices and applications into Relution.

1. Planning and preparation

Assess requirements Analyze the requirements and identify the required functions per operating system (OS). Evaluate infrastructure Provide infrastructure (on-premises or cloud), set up clients and grant access via an LDAP connection. Create migration plan Define time frame, order of migration and people involved.

2. Relution MDM Setup

Train IT managers Attend our basic training courses to gain a basic understanding (you will receive a certificate on completion). Register and set up Install the on-premises server or set up the cloud infrastructure through Relution. Create locations and organizations Create required locations or organizational units. Link Relution with Apple and Google Connection to Apple School/Business Manager and Android Enterprise. Create users Link your IDM (LDAP/AD/OpenID/SAML) with Relution, alternatively import/export CSV files or create users manually. Configure basic settings Customize user roles and permissions (dynamic roles). Create groups and profiles Set up device groups and associated configuration profiles.

3. Data and configurations

Save data Export all data and configurations from the existing MDM. Document configurations Record all existing settings for replication in Relution. Policies Configure the policies based on your requirements. Inform users Notify users about the upcoming migration and ask them to back up their data. Define test group Perform a pre-test migration with about five devices to test features and troubleshoot.

4. Migration of the devices

Remove devices from old MDM Remove the devices from the existing MDM. Reset devices (if necessary) Reset the devices to factory settings.

5. Registration of the devices in Relution

Automated enrollment Use Apple DEP, Android Enterprise Zero-Touch, Samsung KME or Windows Autopilot. Manual enrollment (optional) If necessary, register the devices manually. Restore user data Support users to restore their backed up data.

6. Check and adjust

Check device configuration Ensure that all devices are configured correctly. Customize and troubleshoot Make necessary adjustments and rectify problems. Update documentation Keep all relevant documents and instructions up to date.
