Flexible choice: Relution Cloud or on-premises
Relution gives you the choice
Control over personal and sometimes highly confidential data is of central importance in today's networked world. It ensures the protection of privacy, offers security against misuse and enables self-determined decisions about how and for what purpose personal information is used.
This is exactly where Relution comes in: With comprehensive freedom of choice and flexibility, Relution supports data protection-compliant operation - either in your own infrastructure (on-premises) or in an encrypted European cloud. The decision between an on-premises installation and the use of the cloud allows the IT infrastructure to be optimally tailored to your individual (company) needs. Both options offer specific advantages and challenges. The following overview should help you to assess whether a local Relution installation or the use of the European cloud is the better choice for you.
On-Premises - Maximum sovereignty over your own data and on-site security
With the On-Premises solution, you have full control over your data, as it is stored exclusively on your own infrastructure. This offers decisive advantages in terms of data security and data protection compliance, especially in sensitive industries. In addition, the on-premises version allows you to fully adapt Relution to your internal IT processes and implement individual compliance requirements. The local solution also guarantees access to Relution even if the internet connection fails, as the Relution portal can also be accessed internally, depending on the configuration.
The challenges of an on-premises solution include the higher administrative effort and the installation and maintenance costs. Your IT department is responsible for the installation, regular updates, backups and ongoing maintenance of the infrastructure. Investments in your own hardware are also required, which incurs initial costs. Implementation can also be more time-consuming, as all configuration and maintenance is carried out directly by you.
Cloud: flexibility and scalability for modern educational institutions, administrations and companies
The Cloud solution (Software-as-a-Service, SaaS) offers immediate operational readiness and maximum flexibility. As you do not need your own hardware, you save time and can use Relution immediately. In addition, the Relution team takes care of regular updates and security backups, so you always have the latest version and the latest security standards available. The cloud solution scores particularly well thanks to its high scalability: you can flexibly expand or reduce your resources as required. This also means that there are no high initial investment costs.
Please note, however, that a cloud solution requires a stable internet connection to be able to access Relution at any time. In addition, the data remains stored in an external cloud. However, our cloud providers are characterized by a server location within the EU and are subject to the strict data protection guidelines of the GDPR. Dependence on a cloud provider and the need for regular fees could also be aspects that play a role in the decision.
Conclusion: The decision between an on-premises installation and the cloud variant (SaaS) depends on your individual requirements. Whether you prefer a local solution or want to take advantage of the external cloud - both options offer a secure, powerful basis for centralized, smooth device management.
