Digital change in the housing sector

Less effort, more overview: Rouen Habitat relies on smart device management

Rouen Habitat, the public housing office (Office Public de l'Habitat, OPH) of the city of Rouen, relies on digital solutions to meet the requirements of a modern social housing organization.

Around 150 employees work with smartphones, tablets, laptops or at stationary workstations - both in the office and in the field. Mobile IT equipment plays a crucial role in everyday working life. To manage the large number of devices efficiently, securely and in compliance with data protection regulations, Rouen Habitat opted for Relution as its central MDM solution..

The digital lever: one MDM for everything

Before Relution was introduced, setting up an Android smartphone at Rouen Habitat was a time-consuming process. An internal 65-page manual had to be worked through step by step in order to configure a device for professional use: “A process that took up to two hours per device,” recalls Jean-Jacques Demarque, Head of IT at Rouen Habitat.

Relution is a powerful MDM that can manage Apple and Android devices across platforms. Almost 100 devices are currently registered in Relution - and the number is growing. The solution supports the IT department in configuring devices remotely with all required applications and guidelines, rolling out updates, removing apps if necessary and recording locations - without manual intervention on the device. Geolocalization is also made possible.

Automated configuration provides particular added value: language settings, Wi-Fi access, regional specifications and apps are set up automatically as soon as a new device registers with Relution. This not only saves time, but also ensures uniform standards and increases operational reliability. “This is a real game changer for us, especially when setting up Android devices,” explains Mr. Demarque.

Secure and GDPR-compliant

Data protection is also a key issue for Rouen Habitat: as the manager of sensitive tenant data, the highest security standards must be adhered to. Relution can be used to block non-compliant applications, enforce password rules and prevent unwanted system resets. Management is completely on-premises - all data remains within the company's own infrastructure and under its own control.

Roles and groups can also be used to configure the devices precisely according to task areas. Relution's remote access functions enable the IT department to act quickly in an emergency - whether by locking, resetting or localizing a device.

Partnership at eye level

Rouen Habitat describes its collaboration with the Relution team as solution-oriented and based on partnership. “When we have a challenge, we quickly get a competent answer - that's not a given and saves us an enormous amount of time on a day-to-day basis,” emphasizes Mr Demarque. This has been particularly helpful with more complex issues such as the integration of devices already in use. “We also really appreciate the fact that impulses from the field flow directly into the further development of Reluion,” continues Mr. Demarque.

THE solution for the public sector

Rouen Habitat demonstrates how digital sovereignty can also be successfully implemented in public housing. Thanks to simple scalability, broad device support, high technical standards and a clear focus on data protection, Relution is the ideal MDM solution for the public sector.
