Relution digitizes companies

Technically minded, foodie and bold pacesetter: Stefan Jauker has been the technical mastermind and one of the managing directors of Relution since the beginning. We talked to him about the use of Relution, mainly in the enterprise environment.

Stefan, what is Relution all about?

Relution is a mobile device management software for conveniently configuring, uniformly managing, comprehensively securing and smoothly deploying all digital end devices and for distributing apps. Relution greatly relieves the IT administration, as the enrolled end devices are clearly listed in the inventory and can be controlled centrally.

In which industries and sectors is Relution used?

In addition to any company size, companies from all industries are of interest to us. For example, we have many customers from the automotive sector; in addition to various ORM manufacturers, customers from the logistics sector also rely on Relution. Relution is also reliably used in the education sector or in public administrations. Besides the health care sector, for example in many hospitals, Relution is suitable for insurance companies, banks or for manufacturing companies in the industrial sector.

What advantages does Relution offer?

We are a German software provider and comply with strict data protection guidelines. Relution enables data protection-compliant operation at any time, either in an encrypted cloud (Software-as-a-Service) or in your own IT infrastructure (On Premises). We are also characterized by strong support with direct contacts. We have a strong presence in Germany. Thanks to direct communication, we can build a close customer relationship, take requests and try to fulfill them with our agile way of working and thus offer the best possible for our customers.

How can Relution be used in an enterprise context?

Relution is the optimal device management for companies, as the functionalities of the digital end devices can be controlled across the board through policies. This guarantees security, as password protection, for example, provides a reinforced mechanism that protects devices and corporate data from access by unauthorized persons. In addition, applications can be conveniently distributed to the devices. This enables the employee to use company apps, access the email inbox or store files. Relution can also be integrated very well into the company's own infrastructure and into existing systems - the integration of local user directories for cross-system authentication can be implemented without any problems. Another big advantage of Relution is its platform independence.

What does platform independence mean?

Platform independence refers to the ability of a software to work smoothly on various popular operating systems such as iOS/MacOS, Android, and Windows without the need for separate versions for each operating system. Relution is platform independent and features broad device compatibility. This ensures smooth mixed operation, as the operation as well as configuration of all types of devices from different manufacturers are optimally guaranteed. This allows us to be flexible and provide customers with a large user base.

What does device management look like in the enterprise context in concrete terms?

IT is concerned with controlling data and preventing data leakage. Relution ensures comprehensive data separation and supports secure management of both private (BYOD) and corporate-owned devices (COD). In the latter case, there is the option to completely manage the device and prohibit any private use, or to create an additional area next to the corporate part that is not managed and suitable for private use. Whatever the decision, all options can be managed with Relution and are always compliant with the GDPR.

Is Relution a startup in the MDM market?

No, I don't consider us a startup. We have been on the market for over eight years and also have a long tradition in the software sector. Relution is a very widespread MDM, especially in German-speaking countries. In the beginning, we had a very strong focus on the Enterprise AppStore and accompanied entire app lifecycles: from procurement and licensing to quality control, holistic distribution, new versions and updates. In recent years, we have focused on the device managementEducation area and have been able to build a great expertise. We have managed to manage masses of devices from entire counties or states, to integrate new platforms into Relution and to further develop a multitude of different functions. For example, we are privacy compliant by not using Apple ID or Microsoft ID. This has also strengthened us functionally throughout the enterprise market.

Where does the digitization of companies currently stand? Where can Relution help?

There are many companies with different levels of digitization. Some are at the beginning and use many stationary devices; some already make use of mobile devices and applications. In still other companies, the focus is on equipping employees with mobile devices across the board to make the workplace more flexible.
Relution can help, especially in public environments such as industrial, healthcare or education, where terminals or devices are used by multiple people. For smooth, privacy-compliant operations, Relution provides kiosk mode and limits the device's access to one or more specific applications.

What technical innovations will there be from Relution for the enterprise context?

One innovation in the rollout is improved access to the corporate network - an on-demand VPN solution. Encrypted traffic does not require a manual VPN connection each time; a secure VPN connection is automatically activated, for example, when certain networks or applications are used. This enables protected access to intranet pages, specific websites or applications from anywhere without an employee having to deal with connections to the network.

Thank you very much for the interview.
