Datagroup relies on Relution for MDM

DATAGROUP is a leading IT service company for commercial customers from SMEs, large companies and public administration. The full-service provider's offering includes managed & private cloud services, SAP and security services, device management and on-site support. Relution has been complementing the portfolio of mobile device management platforms for years.

DATAGROUP, headquartered in the Stuttgart region, has been looking back on years of constant growth and continuous expansion of new business areas and locations. The IT company employs around 3,500 employees. This strong development requires an ever-increasing number of IT end devices to be managed. For device management, DATAGROUP relies on the support of Relution.

Devices must be re-inventoried, configured, secured and managed so that the users are equipped with all necessary applications and settings at all times. This applies not only to the devices of DATAGROUP employees, but also to devices that the IT service provider manages for customers and their employees. Without a suitable mobile device management system (MDM), this requirement is hardly manageable in terms of administration and capacity. That is why DATAGROUP uses Relution internally as well as for its customers. More than 1,100 Relution licenses are in use across the group for the management of mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. Thanks to Relution, the administrative effort is reduced, as the management of a large number of devices can be implemented easily and in a time-saving manner.

Data separation for different types of device ownership

It does not matter whether the devices to be managed are company-owned devices (COD) or private devices with a managed work profile (BYOD - Bring Your Own Device). "The data separation works very reliably; sensitive personal data is isolated from the work data," explains Juliane Thürling, Service and Project Coordinator MDM at DATAGROUP.

Nevertheless, COD will also remain in the inventory, as Relution can ensure the greatest possible flexibility in terms of device selection. "Relution works platform-independently and covers all operating systems as well as the full range of devices, regardless of manufacturer and type," Thürling continues.

Full control over your own data

In addition to flexibility, security is also a top priority at DATAGROUP. Both are combined in the choice of hosting: Relution enables data protection-compliant operation, either in the company's own infrastructure (on premises) or in a German cloud. "As an IT service provider ourselves, we own many data centers, so we opted for the option of operating the MDM system on premises. This ensures our data sovereignty," explains Thürling.

In addition to a good price-performance ratio and high quality, the extensive interface connection also speaks for Relution: Above all, the API interface, which allows DATA-GROUP to seamlessly distribute various scripts, should be emphasized. However, the two most important advantages are the reliability as well as the trustful cooperation between the contact persons at Relution and DATAGROUP. "The work with Relution is characterized by a regular exchange on eye level, a good cooperation and a personal contact", Thürling concludes.
