Apple Classroom and Relution - controlling student devices via the MDM

About the Apple Classroom app

Classes that have been created in Relution are automatically displayed clearly in the Apple Classroom app on the teacher's device. To start the lesson, the teacher selects the desired class from the overview. As soon as this is done, the devices of all students in this class appear in a detailed overview. The following functions can now be carried out via the teacher device:

Division of the class into groups

The Apple Classroom app can be used to create individual groups within a class, for example for project work. This means that either a single student, a group of students or the entire class can be supervised.

Starting and locking apps

A special app can be started on the iPads of all students. The student devices can be locked so that the app cannot be exited. This keeps the students focused.

Navigating to specific websites

Students can be navigated to specific websites in Safari, for example to carry out research on a specific topic.

Dokumente teilen und erhalten

Dateien wie Arbeitsblätter, Präsentationen, oder Fotos und Videos lassen sich einfach mit allen Schüler:innen teilen. Ebenso kann das Lehrergerät Dokumente und Links von Schülergeräten empfangen und anzeigen.

Share and receive documents

Files such as worksheets, presentations, photos and videos can be easily shared with all students. The teacher device can also receive and display documents and links from student devices.

View screens from student devices

Student tablet screens can be viewed directly on the teacher device, for example to record the current work progress.

Present student work with AppleTV

If an AppleTV is available in the classroom, the screen of a student device can be mirrored on the TV monitor or projector. This can be used to promote collaboration, present group work or highlight the work of individual students.

Mute and lock the screens

If the volume on a student's iPad is disturbing for the rest of the class, individual or all devices can be muted via the teacher's device. It is also possible to draw the attention of all students to the teacher by temporarily locking all iPads in the class.

End classes

The teacher can use “End class” to reactivate all student devices for normal use at the end of the lesson.
