Ostseeschule Ückeritz switches to Relution
The Ostseeschule Ückeritz was already digitally active before the Digital Pact. But with more iPads and the BYOD concept, the old MDM system reached its limits: Shared iPads could not be managed, many tasks had to be done manually, and central control was hardly possible – too time-consuming for everyday school life.
Together with the dedicated school authority, the Ückeritz School Association, and IT partner Britnet, the school decided to switch to Relution. Britnet has been working closely with the school for many years and initiated and supported the introduction of Relution. Today, Philipp Schaffner, a teacher of computer science, sports, and biology, as well as a media education consultant for the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, manages around 400 iPads—from teacher service devices and mobile suitcase devices to parent-financed student devices from grade 7 onwards.
THE SWITCH TO CENTRALIZED CONTROL
Relution impressed us above all with its practical focus on the requirements of everyday school life. Both school-owned and private iPads can be managed reliably and clearly. Configuration profiles can be customized and automatically rolled out to the respective devices. What used to be time-consuming can now be controlled centrally, flexibly, and efficiently. “Our old MDM slowed us down. With Relution, I'm not only faster, but I can finally manage devices without having to pick them up every time,” says Schaffner. A major advantage is the integration of Apple DEP: devices can be integrated directly into the system, private apps can be blocked in class, and school-related applications can be automatically provided via Relution. Teachers can access the apps they really need via the internal app store. Starting in the coming school year, the Relution Teacher app will also be used. This will allow teachers to control lesson scenarios even better by specifically approving or restricting certain content or apps, depending on the topic and learning group.
EVERYDAY USABILITY AND INTUITIVE
The migration to Relution took place during the summer holidays – the conversion of the teachers' devices in particular involved a lot of effort. However, thanks to creative solutions and close cooperation with Britnet, the complete conversion was successful. Since then, administration has been running smoothly. Relution's intuitive interface allows many tasks to be carried out independently – without technical knowledge or constant queries. Should support be needed, Relution's support team is quickly available.
LESS EFFORT, MORE FOCUS ON EDUCATION
Since Relution was introduced, the administrative workload at Ostseeschule Ückeritz has been significantly reduced. Device management is stable and problems hardly ever occur. For the part-time system administrator, this means more time for teaching and educational work. Relution now also plays an important role in his role as a media education consultant for other schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania – not as a recommendation, but as a good example from practice. “I'm not only a teacher, but also a media consultant – and when schools ask me how we do it, I say quite clearly: We use Relution because it works,” Schaffner continues.
A SOLUTION THAT GROWS WITH THE SCHOOL
Relution has established itself at the Ostseeschule Ückeritz as a reliable, flexible, and future-proof MDM system. The school benefits from clear digital processes, and more complex scenarios can be implemented reliably. When educational concepts and technical solutions work together, digitization can function sustainably in everyday school life.
