Digitalization has experienced unprecedented acceleration in recent years. This is also the case in the Hanover region, where hannIT is a strategic IT partner for cities, municipalities and municipal companies as well as regionally based utilities and transport companies. In this specific case, it is about the interaction of various partners in the school digitization of the city of Hemmingen.

Future Education: hannIT is a full-service provider for school authorities on the subject of IT and digitization. When it came to digitization in the school and education sector, the two IT specialists René Heimann and Yannic Sack from the IT Competence Center were faced with special challenges.

The procurement of digital end devices such as tablets or laptops for more than 30 school boards was still a comparatively simple task. The decisive criterion was the management of the devices. To ensure the smooth operation of the devices, the two digitization specialists had to provide powerful and flexible device management software, a mobile device management solution. "We were aware that only with a mobile device management solution could we handle the complex requirements such as enrolling the numerous student devices on different operating systems," explains René Heimann. "In addition, the central device management approach is also the preferred approach in the digital pact," adds Yannic Sack. "The advantage for the school authorities is that they have a single point of contact with us and can obtain the MDM as a service in a straightforward manner," explains René Heimann.

Focus on data protection, platform independence and support

At hannIT, it quickly became clear that only a German manufacturer who had committed to complying with German and European data protection standards and who had German-speaking contact persons could be considered.

Another criterion was the guarantee of platform independence, i.e. software support for various operating systems such as Apple, Android or Windows. On-premise operation, i.e. on-site in hannIT's own data center, was also essential to ensure full data sovereignty. With these requirements in mind, the two IT experts explored the software market and came across the provider Relution. "Relution convinced us in daily use - also because the application is multi-client capable. We can look after several schools in one instance, as any number of customers can be managed via one server," Yannic Sack elaborates.

Ready for the future

It's up and running: hannIT has advanced digitization in schools quickly and reliably. Thanks to its professional approach, all the prerequisites are now in place to tackle further IT projects quickly and successfully.

Cooperation with Bechtle AG

Bechtle was commissioned with the integration and installation via an existing framework agreement. "We were able to score points because we convinced them with Relution as a mature MDM provider, our IT experience, and success in rapid installations," says Hariharan Sriskanthan, Account Manager Public Sector at the Bechtle System House Hanover. In addition, Bechtle completes its services around the introduction of Relution's MDM with support, instruction and initial user training.

City of Hemmingen relies on efficient solution

As a small municipality with four schools, the city of Hemmingen is interested in making the tasks involved in digitization as lean as possible. One of these tasks is the management of the newly acquired mobile devices. The management of the devices runs almost independently from the school IT of the city of Hemmingen and has a positive impact on many areas of the school board. By using Relution and working with hannIT, the management process has been optimized. Through the "zero-hands-on process", the city saves capacities, costs and time. The expectation to remain capable of action in the schools, even with an increasing number of digital devices, has been fulfilled through the use of Relution. "The goal in the acquisition was to ensure effective and cost-efficient support for the schools in their media education work. Relution offers many positive solutions for this," says Ama Omar, IT representative of the city of Hemmingen.
