Apple warns of security vulnerability

On the safe side with Relution

There is currently a warning from Apple about a serious security vulnerability in Apple products iPhone and iPad as well as Mac.

Hackers could potentially gain full admin access to the devices and take total control.

According to Apple, the vulnerability is in the WebKit software (CVE-2022-32893), which is used to display content in web browsers. In this respect, iPhones and iPads are particularly at risk, since the browsers on the mobile devices are based exclusively on WebKit. According to Apple, another vulnerability is in the so-called kernel (CVE-2022-32894), the central part of the operating system.

The security vulnerabilities could be closed by an update. Relution therefore advises to perform a software update immediately.

This can be done for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices in the device overview comfortably via the action "Install update" for all devices at the same time.

As a permanent solution, we recommend using the "System Updates" configuration by means of policies, via which enrolled iOS and iPadOS devices are always kept up-to-date by a centrally defined update schedule.
