Basic guidelines

Basic guidelines are fundamental specifications that define how devices may be used within an organization and which settings or security standards must be adhered to. They play a central role in mobile device management, as they lay the foundation for a uniform and secure device infrastructure.

Such guidelines often include basic settings such as minimum password protection requirements, camera deactivation, or the blocking of certain functions. The aim is to configure devices in a standardized manner and in accordance with company-wide specifications before they are issued to end users. Basic guidelines ensure that devices can be easily integrated into the existing IT infrastructure and meet basic data protection and security requirements.

In the context of a mobile device management system, compliance with basic guidelines is monitored and controlled by IT administrators. It can be specified that all devices can be remotely locked or reset. It is also possible to adapt basic guidelines to individual user groups or departments within an organization, for example, to take into account the specific requirements of different work areas. Functions such as the automatic deactivation of certain features as soon as a device leaves a company network can also be part of such guidelines.

By introducing clearly defined basic guidelines, companies can ensure that fundamental standards for security and use are adhered to right from the initial configuration. These guidelines form the basis for more detailed policies that can be tailored more precisely to specific device classes or usage scenarios. Basic guidelines provide an indispensable foundation for simplifying device control and minimizing IT effort, especially for larger device fleets in companies or educational institutions. In addition, they enable new devices to be integrated more quickly, for example by automating standard configurations, which can significantly speed up work processes.
